The Kidnapping of Richard Nelson
This storyboard does not have a description.
Important Information According to Tommy Nelson: On Thursday morning, the kidnapper calls and demands that the younger Nelson son, Tommy, was to bring the money in unmarked bills in a duffel bag. He was told to park in a downtown lot and carry the bag through an alley to a drop site in a nearby park, called McGalliard Park. Bernard Nelson did not speak to the kidnapper. Tommy answered the phone. Bernard agreed to the terms. A 2 A.M. pay-off. A million dollars and no police.
Ok, Tommy, tell us what happened...anything you can remember.
"I know we should have called the police, but the kidnapper said he'd kill my brother if I did."
Tommy's Testimony: "I was in the alley when I heard footsteps behind me. The next thing I knew, I was hit in the head. I fell to the ground. My vision was hazy, and all I could see was his back in the dim light. He was a tall, white male. He was wearing jeans, a dark cardigan, and dark shoes. He took off with the duffel bag of money. I'm sorry, but that is all I remember."
Meanwhile..... At approximately 3 A.M. investigators discovered Richard lying on the ground unconscious but with a visible injury to the head. He was about four blocks from the "drop" location. When Richard finally came to, this is what he told investigators...
Look around do you know where you are?
"Where are am I? I don't know how I got here. My kidnapper never showed his face. His voice was familiar, but I couldn't place it. He put a hood over my head and knocked me out. Next thing I know, I'm here.
Let's see. Yeah, I'm near McGalliard Park.
Back at the office, you and Detective Jones review the suspects.
Suspects the the kidnapping of Richard Nelson: Suspect #1: Unknown Suspect #2: Tommy Nelson Something is off about Tommy's story. He was the only one to speak with the kidnapper, but something else seems iffy. NOTE: Suspicous about Richard's story. The pieces aren't fitting together. Did he have something to do with this? What could be a motive?
