  • Although in Walter Mitty's imagination he was very strong, and always saved the day, in reality he made many mistakes and was incapable of a lot of things. One scene in the story is Walter trying to put chains on his tires, but he can't because he didn't know how.
  • Walter Mitty's ability to get lost in his thoughts helps him to get through the drag of his wife and city. He dreams of being heroic and saving the day, time after time.
  • Walter Mitty's way of getting lost in his imagination helps his, but also gets him in trouble. There is one scene where Walter was spacing out and a cop had to pull over and tell him the light was green in order for Walter to notice.
