  • Rising action
  • In the story, a mongoose names Rikki-tikki, washed washed out from his home from a summer flood. He ended up on a garden path of Teddy and his family in India. He procted them and treated him as their pet.
  • Climax
  • While out exploring the garden, he heard a bird cry. He found out that Nag had eaten one of Darzee's fledglings. As a mongoose, Rikki knew he had to take care of Nag.
  • Falling action
  • After he found out about Nag he also met Nagina, his wife. Rikki also killed a small but feisty snake named Karait, which assured him that he could kill Nag and Nagina. Nag was in the bathroom and Rikki killed him.
  • Resolution/ending
  • Because Rikki killed Nag, Nagina wanted revenge. She didn't want to kill Rikki though, she wanted to kill Teddy and his family so then Rikki would leave.
  • After Darzee's wife distracts Nagina while Rikki kills the egg, there is only 1 left. He teases and taunts Nagina with the last egg.  Nagina gets her egg and goes into the hole but just as that happens, Rikki bites onto her tail and goes in the hole with her. He killed Nagina.
  • Rikki comes out of the hole and announces to everyone that the snakes are dead. They celebrate as Darzee sings.
