As Scrooge is sitting alone and afraid in the darkness, he senses the presence of the third spirit. As he is waiting, the third spirit appears in front of him. Scrooge tries to speak to it but the spirit stays silent.
The spirit points forward, revealing an area of Scrooge's house. As Scrooge looks at the area, he sees the charwoman, Sparsit, and the cook talking with each other.
Upon closer inspection, Scrooge sees that Sparsit, the cook, and the charwoman are both talking about Scrooge's death. They all seem to be taking Scrooges possessions to sell. They also look like they are starting to make arrangements for Scrooge's funeral.
After Scrooge is done looking at the area of his house the spirit is pointing at, The spirit points in another direction of his house. This time, the scene is not in Scrooges house but in the Cratchit household. Scrooge sees Mrs. Cratchit reading a book to her kids.
Upon closer inspection, Scrooge sees that Mrs. Cratchit is getting worried about Bob Cratchit's and Tiny Tim's return. Scrooge sees Bob Cratchit come in holding Tiny Tim. Bob Cratchit says that Tiny Tim has unfortunately died.
After begging for the spirit to leave, Scrooge finally sees the spirit silently disappear. Scrooge has learned about how his present actions are able to affect the future of others in negative ways.
