Storyboard Text

  • Titrations (Target 11.6)
  • If 24.64 mL of 0.5500M NaOH is used to titrate 40.00 mL of HCl, find the acid concentration
  • Write the balanced equation: HCl + NaOH --> H20 + NaCl
  • 0.55M = n/0.02464L  n = 0.013 mol NaOH
  • Use M= n/V to solve for the moles of NaOH, then use the mole ratio to get moles of HCl.
  • 0.013 mol NaOH x 1 mol HCl                               1 mol NaOH
  • = 0.013 mol HCl
  • M = 0.013n        0.04L
  • = 0.325M HCl
  • Finally, use the n and V of HCl  to determine the molarity.
  • I get it, but could you explain it again from the beginning, just to double check?
  • I'm totally getting an A on this quiz!
