  • The conflict in The Open Window is that Vera takes advantage of Mr. Nuttel nerves to make up a fake story about Mrs. Sappleton's family to make him nervous and freightened. The conflict is Character versus Character.
  • Falling Action
  • I have got to get out of here!
  • Haha, Are you a little chicken?
  • Mr.Nuttel had arrived at mrs. Sappleton's house. His sister had made him introduction letters for all the people she had known in the area for Frampton to meet. She knew that he needed to meet some people in the area that he was moving into because if not he would be spending all his time alone. She also thought that it could help with his undergoing nerve cure.
  • Resolution
  • Vera had told Mr.Nuttel a story that she had made up about how Mrs. Sappleton's son, dog, and husband never came back one day from the shooting range and that they have never seen them since.
  • The falling action is when Mr. Nuttel sees the young boy, the dog, and the husband walking towards the house. He thinks it is their ghosts so he leaves frightened.
  • In the end we as the readers found out that the story was made up and that none of Mrs. Sappleton's family never died.
