  • Geography
  • The Fertil soil, warm climate and substantial length of growing seasons caused the southern United States to be the perfect place to grow cotton 
  • Society
  • The society of the South was made up of a social hierarchy. With the rich white land-owning men on top and the poor white and slaves on the bottom.
  • Shipping Cash crops to other parts of the world was a big part o the economy for the south. Cash crops included cotton, corn, and tobacco.
  • Economy
  • Dinner in the south (for the white land-owners) consisted of meat, porridge, and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Desert was usually pie, pudding, or ice cream/custard
