My dear child Nandini, I believe it is finally time to leave your hometown of Guyana. It has become unsafe for us to live here anymore, the crime rate is constantly rising and I fear for you my child. We must leave and go to America, I believe that America is the solution to all of our problems, let us go there and be reborn a new.
My child, it is time that we leave this wretched country with your four siblings and father. Nandini, we will be leaving tonight on a boat to go to America. I can not wait for us to reach America where all of your dreams will come true, work hard my child. Nandini, one of my cousins had sponsored to come to America so we will be staying at their house, remember to behave when we get there.
Ok Mama, thank you for all your trying to do the help me gain a bright future.
Honey, we are almost to America where we will begin a new. America is the promise land that will bring about our happiness. I hope you understand that I didn't force to move out, that i wasn't trying to be selfish but everything I did was for you and your siblings future. Back there Guyana wasn't very safe especially for a young girl like you.
Mama, I can see some land coming up, America here we come
We finally made to America, I can finally get a proper educations, for to college, make friends and find the love of my life. Thank you so much mom for making my dreams come true. I promise you I will not take advantage of this once in a life time opportunity, I saw how hard to tried to make it possible for all of us to make it to America and I could not have asked for more mom, I love you.
Finally, my first day of college is today, I can't how far I have gotten, and how hard i worked to get here. I will make my mom proud and get a college degree, first in my family. My family, when we live in Guyana, only went up to high school and dropped out to get jobs to help support their families, but now I can break that cycle as i am about to step foot into my first day of college.
Wow, my first day of College... woah, I think this girl in front of me is pretty cute, maybe I should ask her out
On September 5, 1992 Nandini Deopersaud and David Filosa got married. We had first met at Baruch College and had fallen in love. My dad fell in love with when he saw how passionate and driven she was turn around her family and be the first in her family to have a college degree. After tens years of being happily married it was decided it was time to start their own little family, and on May 23, 2002 the cutest child was born Daniel Filosa and then my brother right after. Me and my twin brother grew up together with my mom and dad and to this day we are still happy with the family I got.
