Hi, my name is Amber and this is my sister. We live in a refugee camp in Lebanon because of all the conflict in our country, Syria. Our father had to stay behind to fight in the war
My sister and I are finding it very hard to be away from our family and home. We miss them both very much and we don't even know if we are still safe here in Lebanon. It is very scary not knowing what has happened to the rest of your family .
The refugee camp here lacks food, water and medical supplies which mean there is a higher chance of death, sickness and starvation. This makes us struggle to get on in our daily lives
Another problem that we struggle with is that our schools are very overcrowded because the amount of children attending just keeps increasing. I'm worried that we will not receive enough education that we will be able to get a well paying job and provide for the needs of our own and our family's
Many people who have come to this refugee camp have been traumatized at what they have seen during the war back in Syria, my sister is one of these people. This is a constant struggle for us as they can then suffer from anxiety, depression and stress which can later on lead to death.
Many of our houses/buildings are also in very poor condition and 12% are in danger of collapsing, 14% are leaking from the roof or damaged plumbing. It is very cold and we struggle to be comfortable when the living conditions are in very poor condition.
