In Maryland January 1, 1833 Frederick Douglass was now going to his new master Mr.Covey . Mr.Covey was one of the slaveholders who worked with the slaves and was a hard working man. He was quick to get mad at certain things that the slaves did.
During the times that Douglass is with Mr.Covey he starts to notice change. Mr.Covey gave us enough to eat, but hardly time to eat it. Mr.Covey was one of the slaveholders who was different, but still had his cruel ways. Mr.Covey would make Douglass drink bitter,dirty water out of all the slaves. He would make them work in any condition but it was never that bad where the slaves couldn't work through it.
During Douglass stay with Mr.Covey. Douglass was noticing that he was getting broken down.He was very unmanageable when he first arrived to Mr.Coveys plantation. After a few months of discipline from Mr.Covey, Douglass started to notice that he was getting broken down. He was broken in body,soul and spirit.
Throughout his time with Mr.Covey, Douglass was getting very tired with all the hard work he has done in the plantation. And still can't get no rest. One Day on a very hot sunny day Douglass and other slaves where working on the fanning wheat it had required strength. unfortunately
