King Frederick was born on January 24, 1712. He was fathered by Frederick William I and mothered by Sophia Dorothea.
Frederick's father strictly controlled his sons upbringing and education. He also despised any artistic or intellectual tastes that his son had.
His father's cruelty led Frederick to make an escape attempt with his friend(maybe a little bit more than just friend), Hans Herman Von Katte. They were caught and Frederick's father forced him to watch Hans' head be chopped off.
Frederick's Father died on May 31, 1740 and immediately after King Frederick was crowned. He made it clear to his ministers that he alone would be deciding policy.
Frederick went on to lead his nation through multiple wars with Austria and it's allies, earning himself the name Frederick the Great. His domestic policies also transformed Prussia into a modern state and a formidable European power.
King Frederick the Great of Prussia died on August 17, 1786. His great military genius went on to influence those like Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler.
