Storyboard Text

  • In France, there was a very large population. The people were separated into three estates based on class and wealth. The king and the queen were in the first estate, nobles were in the second and peasants were in the third. There was also a great amount of inequality.
  • While the peasants worked outside everyday, they started to notice bad harvests and crop failures because of the harsh winter; which led to them not having bread. There was also volcanic eruptions in Iceland that released a poisonous gas that killed crops and lifestock, which lasted eight months.
  •   Before democracy, there was absolute monarchy and Divine Right of Kings. The first and second estate lived extravagant and fancy lifestyles. The other people, such as the third estate, had no voting rights or a say in anything. The church also controlled people's education.
