The 54th Massachusetts Infantry were a part of the union army. They were pioneers that paved future African American soldiers. Many thought they were incapable and incompetent because of their race. They disproved this on the battlefield.

After the victory at the Battle of Gettysburg, on November 19, 1863, Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address. It was sought to strengthen the resolve, win the war, and bring the country together. The South would later surrender.
Clara Barton was a nurse for Union during the Civil War. Barton later became a part of the women's suffrage movement and she also founded the American Red Cross.
