  • The Government owed $52 million after the American Revolution because of people selling bonds for less than they were worth.
  • I'll sell this bond for $50!
  • Isn't that bond worth $100?
  • Alexander Hamilton proposed three plans to pay back debt. Paying back all state and federal debt, creating a National Bank, and creating high tariffs.
  • Hamilton's Financial Crisis
  • Maybe we could pay back all State and Federal debt?

  • Yes for Paying back, no for tariffs, and yes for bank,
  • Whiskey Rebellion
  • George Washington was inaugurated in April 1789 in NYC.
  • Problems in the NW territory

  • Sir, your going to need to sell your lands.
  • French Revolution
  • No merci!
  • Congress imposed a tax on all whiskey made and sold in the country. Farmers who made the whiskey rebelled and burnt down the house of a tax collector.
  • The U.S. tried to get the Native Americans off their lands by forcing them to sell their land. Which turned into a battle that broke the Native American hold on the Northwest. 
  • Due to a Financial Crisis, Economic Depression, and the Age of Reason, France had begun to destroy an unfair class system.
