Two models are most favored for the origin of the atmosphere: outgassing or accretion. Outgassing is related to the differentiation of the Earth and release of gasses by volcanoes.
The hydrosphere was formed four billion years ago from the condensation of water vapor, resulting in oceans of water in which sedimentation occurred.
A billion years ago blue-green algae started using energy from the sun to split molecules of H2O and CO2. It recombined them into molecular oxygen. The energy process is known as photosynthesis.
molecules absorbed energy from the suns ultraviolet rays and split which is the ozone layer.
The ozone was about 200-300 nanometers 600 million years ago.
The oxygen was about 10% then and life was restricted to the ocean. The ozone enabled any life
