Siddharta had grown up in a palace. He had a wife and child at 29 but he wanted to explore the world. He went out to explore for a few days and saw four sights.
The first sight he saw was an old man who was wearing ripped clothing and he had a long grey beard. His face was wrinkled and he could hardly see.
The second sight he saw was a man who was clearly very sick. He had purple patchy skin and his body was twisted. He was crying and clearly in a lot of pain.
The third sight he saw was a corpse being burned on wood and fire. This symbolised death. A crowd of people were crying whilst watching the fire.
The final sight he saw was a monk. After seeing some gruesome sights finally some one looked as if they were at peace with the world.
Although he was horrified after seeing old age, sickness and death, Siddharta was inspired by the monk. He decided to leave the palace and become a monk. This was very hard however when he began to mediate under a tree he realised the meaning of life.
