I'm a Medieval Italian Poet and philosophical thinker.
I was not forced to travel to China with my father and my uncle. They wanted me to go, they thought I could be a help for the trip. I decided to take their offering and went to China with them.
I was basically forced to travel. When I was exiled from Florence, all of my possessions were seized and I lost my home.
Nice to meet you Marco. Have you written a poem before? I started writing my greatest literature, The Divine Comedy, after my exile as I was traveling. A beautiful woman named Beatrice Portinari created the backbone of my poem. The poem is based on my life as well as the three tiers of Christian afterlife: Heaven, Hell, and the Purgatory.
Very well, I too have written something about my life, basically at least helped. While I was in a Geonese prison, I met a writer named Rustichello and I told him about my journey to China and he decided to write about it. I co-authored the book, awe called it The Travels of Marco Polo, only to find out later that nobody really believed it.
An interesting thing that I learned about Marco Polo was that he had a remarkable memory.
An interesting thing that I learned about Dante Alighieri was that he studied more than just literature.
