This scene is explaining to us the guilt that Macbeth is feeling after killing King Duncan. The blood is a motif for guilt and the quotation explains the amount of guilt that Macbeth is feeling.
This is the opening scene to the play which immediately gives us our interpretation of the witches. The fact that they will only meet in bad weather symbolizes the negativity and evil of the witches.
