  • Early Islamic society's were perfectly happy living in harmony with Christians and Jews in the Middle-East
  • These Islamic Dynasty's made major profit of christian pilgrimages to holy sites in the Middle-East  
  • This coexistence ended when a group of Muslims called the Seljuk Turks moved into the region and sacked the holy cities including Jerusalem and Mecca
  • Pope Urban II then made a call to arms, and united the feuding nobles of England, and begun the first Crusade
  • The first Crusade was mainly made up of peasants who had to sped 5 to 6 times the yearly income to outfit themselves for such a journey
  • The first Crusade was a major success with the crusaders managing to retake Jerusalem and win many battles that they should have certainly lost.
