Storyboard Text

  • I'll just go to the bathroom in this cave, and then I'll get back on track to look for David.
  • Shaul
  • Oh, no! Why is Shaul here?
  • David
  • G-d delivered my enemy into my hand, so let me take advantage and cut a piece of his robe.
  • Shaul begins to leave
  • Oh, no! It was a terrible idea to hurt G-d's anointed one.
  • David is hiding from Shaul in a cave, and Shaul comes to the cave to go to the bathroom. Shaul is looking for David. (I Shmuel 24:1-3)
  • Shaul, it's me, David. Don't leave! Why do you listen to people that say I want to harm you? Someone told me to kill you in the cave, but I held back. I have a piece of your robe, but I didn't kill you. Why are you looking for someone as insignificant as me?
  • David creeps up to Shaul, and secretly cuts off a piece of Shaul's coat. Shaul hasn't noticed David yet. (I Shmuel 24:4)
  • Oh, David! You are more righteous than me. You bring goodness, while I bring wickedness. Hashem shall restore goodness upon you.
  • David immediately regrets cutting Shaul's robe because he is G-d's anointed one. (I Shmuel 24:5-7)
  • David, I know you will become the king of Israel soon, so promise me you won't kill off my descendants or wipe off my name from my father's family.
  • I promise.
  • David runs after Shaul and bows down to stop Shaul from leaving. (I Shmuel 24:8-15)
  • Shaul begins to cry, and tells David that Hashem should bring goodness upon him for not killing Shaul. (I Shmuel 24:16-19)
  • Shaul tells David to promise him a few things before heading off on his own again. (I Shmuel 24:20-22)
