Storyboard Text

  • After Toulon the Jacobin regime was overthrown by the directory. Napoleon was imprisoned for 10 days and forced to resign his generalship. He received various postings throughout 1794-1795.
  • October 1795 counterrevolutionaries try to storm the Tuileries Palace and return the feudal system to France. Napoleon was in the city at the time and ordered artillery and his troops to fire upon the counterrevolutionaries.
  • Napoleon became a hero after stopping the counterrevolution. He was given the job of disarming the entire city of Paris. While disarming the city he met a noble named Eugene de Beauharnais. He begged Napoleon to allow him to keep his dead father's sword.
  • On March 9, 1796 Napoleon married Josephine de Beauharnais.
  • In March 1798 Josephine's brother tells Napoleon she is having an affair. Their marriage deteriorates and Napoleon takes on a mistress.
  • February 1800 Napoleon became First Consul, and they moved into the Tuileries Palace. They were crowned Emperor and Empress in 1804.
