Storyboard Text

  • I recently developed this on the side of my stomach.  It's extremely painful and isn't getting any better.
  • I think it's time for you to go see a doctor. You don't want it to keep getting worse.
  • Hello, I'm Nurse Amanda.  What seems to be wrong? Can you please tell me some of your symptoms.
  • Well, I felt some pain about a week ago, but I didn't think anything of it.  The next couple days I began to develop a rash, and now I believe they're starting to blister.
  • What is it Dr. Woods?! Is it deadly?
  • Hello, I'm Dr. Woods. The nurse told me symptoms you've been having.  I believe I know what you have.
  • It's called Shingles.  It's those blisters on your side which are extremely painful.  It's caused by the same virus as chicken pox, but affects your nervous system instead.  I'm going to prescribe an antiviral called Acyclovir to help you.  The shingles should go away in about a month.
  • Okay.
  • I feel so much better since that medicine helped me overcome my shingles.  I heard there is now a vaccine to prevent them.  I think you should get it, because I wouldn't want you to go through that experience.
  • That sounds like a good idea! I glad you're feeling all better!.
