  • Have you ever thought of our current technology being advanced enough to create a self thinking android?
  • Well when science-fiction worlds introduce robots that look and behave like people, sooner or later those worlds' inhabitants confront the question of robot self-awareness. If a machine is built to truly mimic a human, its "brain" must be complex enough not only to process information as ours does, but also to achieve certain types of abstract thinking that make us human.
  • Well, artificial consciousness (AC), also known as machine consciousness (MC) or synthetic consciousness (Gamez 2008; Reggia 2013), is a field related to artificial intelligence and cognitive robotics.
  • Thats an interesting fact.
  • It's also happens that conscious creatures are made out of the five aggregates, or skandhas: matter, sensation, recognition, mental arrangements and cognizance.
  • I always knew that in Buddhism, sentient being are creatures with awareness, consciousness, or in certain settings life itself. 
  • That's true, but one of the pitfalls for machines getting to be self-aware is that consciousness in people is not characterized enough, which would make it troublesome, if feasible, for software engineers to imitate such a state in algorithms for AI.

  • Learning is also considered necessary for AC.
  • Conscious events interact with memory systems in learning, rehearsal, and retrieval.  In IDA(Industrial Development Authority), these two memories are implemented computationally using a modified version of Kanerva’s Sparse distributed memory architecture.
  • Assuming it is possible, robots capable of curiosity, sympathy and everything else that distinguishes humans from machines are still a long way off. The most powerful artificial intelligence algorithms, such as Google’s DeepMind, remain distinctly unselfaware, but developments towards this level of thought processing are already happening.
  • The scientists define consciousness as the combination of two different ways the brain processes information: Selecting information and making it available for computation, and the self-monitoring of these computations to give a subjective sense of certainty—in other words, self-awareness.
  • Well, at least its not out of reason to think we can't make a thinking A.I., hopfully  the future can hold the technology to make it possible
