  • This scene shows the cockiness in Creon and his idea that he is always right .

  • When talking to the court of men, he makes himself the first and last one to make the choices and chooses based on his voice and non other, even the gods.
  • Nemesis
  • It's over! I have the high ground!
  • The reversal of fortune occurs when Creon is confronted by his son and is threatens to kill himself, but is still ignored by Creon.
  • Catharsis
  • All that will come when it will; but we, meanwhile, have much to do. (S5 Line 138-139)
  • The critical discovery occurs when Creon realizes that he will bring the death of his son and family if he doesn't listen to Teiresias.

  • Creon's fate is sealed when he enters the tomb to find Haimon in there and then when Haimon tries to kill his own father, but instead, kills himself, leaving Creon with himself to blame.

  • The catharsis is when Creon is left with nothing but his empty title and we feel sorry because he discovered he was wrong but still ended up not saving thee day.
