  • Hi, guys! Welcome to the economics class and today we gonna talk about "Identity Theft"
  • So, what is Identity Theft?  Identify theft occurs when someone wrongfully acquires and uses a consumer’s personal identification, credit, or account information.
  • But how can thieves get an individual information? Very easy! Stealing a purse/wallet, personal records from a workplace, tax information • Steal credit or debit card information by attaching a device to card processors • Use electronic communication to pretend to be a company of financial institution in order to get personal information
  • And how can we protect  ourselves?
  • To deter the stealing of your identity, you should just obey these rules: Protect social security number; Protect financial information; Safeguard wallet and purse; Be careful using Internet
  • Remember! If you identity happened to be stolen act immediately to prevent any further damage and limit personal liability, close all accounts and contact three major credit bureaus!
