Katie is in the library one day looking for a book about plants for school. She finds a book she likes in a section in the back corner of the library.
Katie goes to check the book out, and the librarian, Mr. Linden, checks out her book and tells her if it isn't returned in two weeks there will be consequences.
Katie throws the book into her room and forgets about it as a fortnight passes, losing the book to the mess of the room.
The night of two weeks passing, as Katie sleeps, the book starts to grow out of control, creeping closer to Katie by the second. Katie snaps awake, realizes what's going on, and thinks about how he warned her about the book. Now it was too late, and the consequences had commenced.
Katie decides to act on the situation, and grabs a pair of scissors. She cuts the plant and watches, waiting for the hours til the library opens and she can go to Mr. Linden.
Katie gets to the library and goes to Mr. Linden. He fixes the book and reprimands Katie for not abiding by his rule of a two week deadline.
