Storyboard Text

  • Russia in WWI
  • We don't know how to fight!
  • We've been working most of our lives.
  • It's time to get ready to fight!
  • The February Revolution 1917
  • Let the Duma Rule!
  • Give up your throne Czar Nicholas!
  • I'm just going to leave now....
  • I am the Duma and will rule Russia!
  • The October Revolution 1917
  • Make a new government for us!
  • We are hungry!
  • I am Lenin and I will create a brand new government. I will also make peace with Germany.
  • Before World War I, Russia had been focusing on industrialization rather than militarism, so Russia was behind in military might. They struggled in the war and had many casualties.
  • Russian Civil War 1918-1919
  • The Czar is dying! We have won the war!!
  • AHHHH. HELP ME!!! I'm hit!!!
  • Workers began to riot and make reforms in Russia. During the February Revolution in 1917, Czar Nicholas abdicated the throne and the Duma is re-established. However, the Duma had no real power.
  • Industrial & Agricultural Reforms of Stalin 1928
  • We have to work so hard ever since Stalin took power.
  • Yes, and the state owns all of our farms. He is not the right ruler.
  • Soon, Lenin takes over with the Bolsheviks and he seizes political power in Russia. Russia is unorganized and impoverished at the time. He creates a new governement that is a mix of communism and capitalism.
  • Stalin's Purges 1934
  • You dare try to take over my government. You will die for this!
  • A civil war breaks out in Russia, the Reds being loyal to the Bolsheviks, while the whites are Czarists. The Reds kill Czar Nicholas II and defeat the Whites, putting Lenin back in charge.
  • Lenin dies in 1924 and Joseph Stalin takes power, rapidly moving towards totalitarianism. He makes unrealistic demands for rapid industrialization and makes all farms state owned.
  • Joseph Stalin "purges" or kills all who oppose him or threaten his power.
  • No I swear I didn't do anything!
