  • Chapter Two/ T.J. Eckleburg

  • Gatsby is reaching for the green light representing him reaching daisy. The green light is important for this chapter because Gatsby knows that he lives right across from Daisy; its like he is reaching for an American dream.
  • Chapter Four / Yellow Car
  • The eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg represents an all-seeing god-like figure. Its important in this chapter because it's in the middle of the valley of ashes which also represents hell.
  • Chapter Five/ Clock
  • Gatsbys house represents his emotions about daisy throughout the book. At one point it showed that he was feeling lonely so he kicked everyone that worked there out.
  • Chapter Six/ Dan Cody
  • Gatsby yellow car represents death. Later on, in this chapter, it will describe that daisy killed Myrtle.
  • The clock gatsby knocked over in nicks house represents not being able to get a grasp of the past. It's important because in this chapter gatsby takes daisy to his house to see if she will go back with him like they used to.
  • Dan Cody in this chapter represents Gatsby going to the west egg.  This is important information because Gatsby explains his past so nick would finally trust him.
