Josh! I found a book about Galileo Galilei! I've been looking for for ages. I need it for my science project.
Nice! I've heard that many of Galileo's ideas are still used today in modern science.
Aristotle though that the sun and all the other planets revolved around Earth but Copernicus thought all the other planets revolved around the sun. Who is correct?
He observed a super nova and advanced the telescope by creating new lenses. In 1609 he saw Jupiters four largest moons orbiting around it, contradicting the Ptolemaic theory that Earth is the center of all orbiting bodies.
Many people disagreed with Galileo's ideas on the universe. It went against his religion and the popular belief at the time. Despite all this backlash Galileo still researched his ideas.
In his last years alive, he wrote a book summarizing his ideas. Sadly Galileo became blind in 1638 and died on January 9, 1642, at the age of77.
Many of Galileo's theories and ideas have greatly contributed to today's science.
It's amazing how one person's persistence can change science for the better
