It was a clear, sunny day on the morning of June 27th. In the village of about 300 people, an annual tradition was taking place from 10 o'clock to noon.
Lets finish quickly
Around 10:30, Mr. Summers shows up with a black box and a stool. The box, containing tiny slips of paper, had been used for centuries. Tessie Hutchinson had shown up right before Every head man of each family went up to pick a slip of paper from the box
At last, every family has a slip of paper. When the last family goes to pick, all the family's open there slip. Every paper is blank except one. The Hutchinson's. There is a huge black dot in the middle of the slip Bill Hutchinson, Tessie's husband, picked out.
As the end of the lottery draws closer, Mr.Summers puts five slips, including the slip with the black dot. Each member of the Hutchinson Family picks a slip, and whoever gets the one with the black dot wins. Tessie ends up being the winner.

The towns people start to close in on Tessie. With stones in their hands, they stone Tessie, the winner of the lottery, to death.
