Storyboard Text

  • Ever wondered how websites are built? How computers run? Where information is stored? These are all topics that computer programmers explore and work with on a daily basis.
  • When you think about computer programmers, you probably think of dorky, pimply teenage boys with acne hunched over a computer screen. However, anyone can be a programmer.
  • Computer programmers write in languages such as Java Script, Python, and C++. Most of all, they write code to create software programs. They turn the program designs created by software developers and engineers into instructions that a computer can follow.
  • Computer programmers make around $75,000 a year, a substantial income, compared the measly $20,000 that a McDonalds employee makes. However, that’s only the median income. The top 10% of programmers make around $117,000.
  • They work in offices, but not in boring cubicles, mostly in cool tech-y rooms.
  • Computers can be programmed from anywhere in the world, so executives often bring in programmers to work in countries with lower wages. This means that as a programmer, you could be given the chance to work in and experience a foreign country.
