I thought I would be happy once the regiment left, but it's quite boring without them here. Oh, well. At least I have the trip to the Lakes to look forward to! It's always good to have something to wish for.

(Three weeks later) Life is starting to return to Meryton! And Kitty stopped crying over the boys, so that's good.
(A fortnight out from the Lake tour) I just received notice from my aunt Mrs. Gardiner. It turns out that my Lake tour will be cut short and start later. Also, we won't even be going to the Lakes! We'll be going to Derbyshire. That's where Darcy lives! Oh, well. I'm content!
