As the years painfully went by, the dust storm drought gradually got worse and worse. People of the land had officially named the storm "The Dust Bowl".
The longer Persephone was gone the less and less empathy Demeter began to have for the people of the land. For she was grieving the loss of her child and that was all she cared about.

After all he had missed his wife's happiness, so Zeus made a deal with hades that He would make it rain for a long time or at least enough to grow healthy crops if they could have their daughter back.
