Storyboard Text

  • Consulting An Oracle
  • Because there was limited farming land, colonists would travel to distant lands. They would build farms and send the produce back to Greece. Before they could do so, they had to go through this long process.
  • Gathering Food and Supplies
  • Taking A Flame From The Sacred Fire
  • First, the colonists would consult with an oracle. Through this person, you can supposedly talk to Apollo (the god of light). The oracle will tell you if your journey will be successful or not.
  • Secondly, the colonists would gather food and supplies. You have to prepare enough supplies to be on the seas for months. Unfortunately, the ships were built for transporting goods, not for speed.
  • Next, they would take a flame from the sacred fire, so that they could start a new fire in their new settlement. Finally, they would sail off and try to find areas of land with natural harbors and good farmland.
