- Some states allowed more people to vote, like sharecroppers, factory workers, and other white men
- Bureaucracy is when non elected officials carry out the laws
- We have to let people vote so we do not become a bureaucracy, a democratic nightmare
- Spoils system is a system where the president gives government jobs to his supporters
