Storyboard Text

  • First, Russia got in a dispute with multiple countries including France, Great Britain, Turkey, and Sardinia because Russia wanted more land that was the Turks'.
  • The Turks had a lot of friends, so they overwhelmed Russia.
  • Russia was weakened. At home, Russia was also not doing well. Serfdom had weakened the country further.
  • It's not slavery, its serfdom.
  • Things were looking up for Russia. In 1861, Serfdom was abolished. A council known as Zemstvo was created to deal with localized affairs.
  • People were still not satisfied in Russia. On March 13, 1881, they killed the Czar, Alexander II. 
  • Alexander III took the crown, but only for a short time.
