Storyboard Text

  • Mr. Bob now has a meeting to discuss more details pertaining to the ship.
  • Well, I would be expecting that the ship could make regular trips between our port and the destination port of the customer with little or nor damage to the goods as well as being able to make a good profit after expenses.
  • So Mr. Bob, firstly what are your expectations with the purchase of this boat? Once we have established your expectations we can decide everything else around them.
  • The meeting continues...
  • Ok, so since the main cargo is going to be bauxite you should look at accessible ports that have the ability to  off load the ship efficiently and effectively and also have the ability to dock the ship you purchase.
  • The meeting continues...
  • Well the rate would be dependant on the profit you would like to make after your expenses to do with the boat so it would be important to look at boats that have lower maintenance costs.
  • Ok, so we should look at a port that has relatively low costs and that can unload the vessel efficiently. What about the routing and distance and the freight rate?
  • The meeting continues...
  • The routing and distance would be important to look at as you don't want to have a small vessel crossing open seas. However, in your case with the amount of cargo you plan to carry you will be needing a bigger vessel so it won't be as big a factor.
  • Ok so, so far I think that we have a fairly good understanding of what we need to look at in order to complete our purchase of a boat.
  • On the way back to their office Bob and Garret discuss the purchase.
  • Have you thought about the risks about this purchase, Mr. Bob?
  • I have quite a bit over this past week and so far I think that the risk would be outweighed by the income that can be earned. Sometimes risk needs to be taken to succeed, Garret.
  • Back in his office, Bob reflects over his recent business decision.
  • Well, I guess that we are going to have a new dry bulk vessel to help us in the business.
  • Having this vessel will help us save money that goes towards rent and allow for us to provide better service to our clients.
