Storyboard Text

  • Lightning has started a wildfire. Trees, bushes and grass are burned down.
  • After the wildfire there is now just blackened skeletons of trees with charred debris and gray ash littering the ground. The ecosystem is damaged.
  • The land begins to recover. Grasses and weeds are the first to arrive and grow in the gray, ashy soil. You can still see stumps of the burned trees.
  • The grass and the weeds continue to grow, but annual wild flowers are also beginning to grow.
  • After many growing and dying seasons of annual grasses, weeds, and flowers the soil becomes richer.
  • Many years have passed, and the soil is now rich enough to support shrubs, and small fast growing trees.
