Hey bro! I am broccoli. My friends call me Brock Cali. Some day I'm going to get eaten and I will go through the digestive system. I am a healthy food with plenty of minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins. For 1 cup of me, I have 31 calories, 89% water, 2.5 grams of protein, 6 grams of carbs, 1.5 grams of sugar, 2.4 grams of fiber, and 0.4 grams of fat.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This not-bro is going to eat me now. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I am going to go to the first stage of the digestive system which is the mouth. The mouth will tear me into small pieces using the teeth. It will be aided by saliva to give me easy passage. Throughout the digestive system, there are enzymes that help digest food. In saliva, there is an enzyme called amylase that digests certain carbs.
After leaving the mouth, I am in this long pipe of the digestive system called the esophagus. A process called peristalsis moves me through the esophagus.
Now I am inside the stomach. I will get mixed with other digestive juices. Different acids and enzymes are produced to help break down the food further. There is an enzyme called protease that is used to break down proteins.
After the stomach, I go to the small intestine. The small intestine teams up with the pancreas, liver, and the gallbladder. These organs give the small intestine different digestive juices so that the food is effectively absorbed.
The process is not done yet! I now have to go to the large intestine where all of the water is absorbed so that the waste is solid. The lower part of the large intestine is called the rectum. In the rectum, the waste is stored until the waste must leave through the anus. Now I have gone through the entire digestive system!
