This treaty ended World War 1, giving Germany harsh penalties and not allowing Italy to gain territory from the losing countries. It made both of them very mad and gave them a reason to start another war.

This occured in the 1930's after America's stock market crashed, sending the whole world in a depression. This made leaders angry and frustrated as they tried to control and rule their countries.
The Allied powers were a very influential group and included powerful leaders such as Franklin D. Roosevelt of the USA, Winston Churchill of Britain and Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union. They worked together to win the war.
Leaders in the Axis powers were just as influential. Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany, was responisble for the start of the war. Benito Mussolini was the dictator of Italy and decided to join forces with Hitler after the Treaty of Versailles. Emperor Hirohito of Japan brought his country into the war after attacking China.
The major countries in the Allied powers were England, the United States, the Soviet Union and France. The major Axis powers were Germany, Japan and Italy.
