3. Sumerians create written language
Mesopotamians developed irrigation systems to get water to their crops and grow food.

Now that the first Sumerian civilization began to grow many other city states also started to sprout.
5. Hammurabi / Babylonian Empire
As the Sumerian technology advanced, a pictograph like writing was created called cuneiform.
6. Hammurabi's Law Code
Sargon of Akkad (strong ruler) began to take over many city states in Sumer, he soon took over so much he became the world's first, emperor in the world's first empire-The Akkadian Empire, Sargon also standarized the trade weights which was a major accomplishments for that time.
Hammurabi is another powerful ruler who took over the Akkadian Empire and created his own - The Babylonian Empire. This empire would stand a long time becaouse of its succesful ways and systems.
One of Hammurabi's greatest accomplishments was his law code. These were laws created to give his people justice and to keep his civilization in order and running smoothly.
