Balcony Scene Act II Scene ll

Storyboard Text

  • O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
  • Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
  • I take thee at thy word: Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized; Henceforth I never will be Romeo.
  • What man art thou that thus bescreen'd in night So stumblest on my counsel?
  • Romeo sneaks in to Capulets Castle to see Juliet. Although he startles her and she goes outside to look.
  • Who told you how to get here; below my bedroom?
  • I don’t know how to tell you who I am by telling you a name. I hate my name, dear saint, because my name is your enemy. If I had it written down, I would tear up the paper.
  • Juliet looks outside hoping it to be Romeo. Romeo hide though afraid of it being King Capulet.
  • I haven’t heard you say a hundred words yet, but I recognize the sound of your voice. Aren’t you Romeo? And aren’t you a Montague?
  • Juliet continues to stand on the balcony and talk. Romeo just listening then decides to respond to Juliet.
  • Tell me, how did you get here? ANd why did you come. If my relatives see you, they will kill you because of who you are.
  • I flew over these walls with the light wings of love. Whatever a man in love can possibly do, his love will make him try to do it. Therefore your relatives are no obstacle.
  • Juliet becomes shocked realizing Romeo is there; but she doesn't know his face.
  • Love showed me the way-the same thing that made me look for you.
  • Juliet only recognizes Romeo's voice. Realizing it is him.
  • Juliet then worries for Romeo because he is that of a Montague. That her family will not like discovering he is there.
