We've been walking for hours and I haven't eaten in days!
I see some animals over the horizon!
I hate my life
No! Someone please help my baby!
hmm, hmm, picking some berries.
Hey. How's the wife and kids?
Why don't we just breed animals and grow crops?
Then we wont have to keep moving around!
Realization of farming
I still hate my life...
In paleolithic times (over 8,000 years ago), Nomads roamed the earth. Nomads are people who have no permanent home. The men hunted animals while the woman collected wild plants and looked over the children. The families rarely ever saw each other. Life was miserable.
Surplus of food
Suddenly, people started to learn how to make their own food by farming. This way, they wouldn't have to keep moving around. People grew grains such as wheat, barley, rice, and corn. They also domesticated wild animals such as goats, pigs, cattle, and chickens.
Growth of Communities
People started growing crops and building barns/stables. The men tended the crops and the women cleaned and looked after the children. Life got much better. For most people anyway.
Placement of laws
We will now commence our discussion on who will become our leader.
With all of the crops, the food supplies became much more plentiful and the people had heaps of stock. No one starved any longer. There was enough food for everyone.
As time went on the communities grew exponentially in size. The population rose from 2 million to 90 million. People were able to live longer and children were much safer.
3. 2. 1. Go!
I... still.. hate my life... (Dead)
After the communities grew, people realized that to have successful communities they would need leaders and higher-ups to guide them. Order was kept and people were happy.
