Sarah died within that same year. I'd come to know that she had been my fathers niece. Her mother died from aids in Haiti at the age of 26. My father took the responsibility to raise her, being that she had no parentals. Sarah too, was diagnosed with HIV at childbirth. Everyone knew of the secret but me. I was too young to understand. That's why we weren't allowed to share. My mother felt the need to protect us from her. She treated her like some sort of cancer. Through it all, i always kept my promise to love her the same. I never treated her less than what she was. She was a sister to me. And she will forever be in my heart. For Sarah .

A couple years later ...
Sarah got really sick and was always in and out of the hospital. I could never understand why everyone was so discreet about who she was and her past. But that was my best friend-MY sister. I was there for here, regardless. It just hurt me to watch her hurt. To watch her slip away
