Did you know that in 2018 the US produced about 26.87 billion pounds of beef?
The process of producing meat and the amounts made is impacting the environment negatively.
The majority of greenhouse gases, which are increasing global temperatures, are from the waste product of livestock. Animal agriculture is responsible for 18% of all greenhouse gases.
Meat production is 80-90% of the US water consumption. Water is needed to grow crops for the livestock, water consumed by the livestock, and any water for the production or used for the meat for marketing.
The US makes so much meat it is the second largest consumer of meat. The US conusmes 198.51 lbs of meat per capita.
So, to help save our environment we need to stop producing as much meat to save our resources.
