Storyboard Text

  • Night  begins in Sighet, Transylvania where Elie, his parents, and his sister live their normal life. WWII is currently in the beginning stages and there are rumors of events that might happen to Elie and the other Jews, but nothing has really gone into full effect. The only thing to happen, is Foreign Jews were transported out of Sighet.
  • Exposition
  • The conflict of Night, is that WWII is coming into full effect and more Jews are becoming captured. When the Germans entered Sighet soon after they made strict laws limiting Jews, and soon it was announced that all the Jews would have to move into Ghettos.
  • Conflict
  • After being told that the Jews would be moving, they have a night to obtain all their belongings they want to take with them. In the morning they were lined up outside for hours being checked in the blazing sun and eventually the realized that they would be stripped of their belongs, and proceed to the Ghettos.
  • Rising Action
  • Elie’s family arrived in Birkenau and were separated between gender, leaving Elie just with his father. Elie and his father spent time at Auschwitz and later got transferred to another camp called Buna where the suffrage continued and the Jews were beaten (including Elie and his father) and dehumanized.
  • Climax
  • The Jews would be transported out of Buna, and sent on a long journey that would be one of the longest and most exhausting journeys. Elie and his dad were forced to run through snow for miles and if a little trip up was made, you’d be shot. Tons of Jews at this time died because they couldn’t keep up, but the other Jews had to continue.
  • Falling Action
  • Around 100 Jews were stuck on carts and only 12 survived including Elie and his Father. At the new camp where Elie arrived, his father was near death. His father developed dysentery and was tormented by other Jews. One night when Elie went to sleep, when he woke up his father was gone and probably taken to a crematory. Elie spent months at that camp without his father, when one day all the Jews were evacuated from the camp and became free.
