Most people have this idea that winning is always good. But that's not always the case, infact there are times where "winning" could end your life, as it did here. This idea could be a possible theme for the story.

It seems as though it's greener than usual, the description here gives the reader, or us, a good idea of the surrounding area. This makes it easier to really imagine what the villiage actually looked like.
