The Fall of the House of Usher

The Narrator is invited to Usher's house because Usher has become ill and is requesting a friend. He arrives and meets the house butler.
The Narrator finds Usher in his room very sick. The entire house is falling apart, and Usher's room looks and smells terrible.
Usher explains that his sister is staying in the house as well. She is also deathly sick, and can hardly stand up.
The narrator and Usher discuss all that they have missed while they weren't seeing each other, and the narrator feels as though Usher is nearing the brink of decay and death.
Usher explains that his last family member, his sister Madeline, was recently found dead due to illness. The narrator knew this was only going to cause more problems.
Usher had decided to give his sister a proper coffin and place her in the basement.
