Storyboard Text

  • There was once a boy named Saul who was ready to join adulthood. He first received permission from the wise respected Shaman and started his one-year preparation by finding an area of natural beauty, meditated, prayed, fasted and learned about the first aid kit.
  • You, my son, are ready for the quest. Prepare now to discover your fate.
  • The next step to adulthood was to perform a sweat lodge ceremony. The purpose of the sweat lodge ceremony is to seek wisdom and purify the mind body and spirit.
  • Inside of the sweat lodge Saul sits with Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Shaman and Fire Keeper. The Fire Keeper pours water on the hot rocks to create steam. They then sing, dance and meditate.
  • Saul was then lead to his sacred place in the woods where he would set up his camp and fast in isolation for 3 days. During this time he would seek a vision telling Saul who he is.
  • On the third day Saul noticed something soring high in the sky and flew in front of him. It was a sacred eagle almost as big as himself. The eagle told Saul to follow In his Grandfather's footsteps and help people with his generous loving heart.
  • You will follow in your Grandfather's footsteps and help those in need.
  • Once the vision quest was over Saul discussed his vision with the Shaman and concluded that he would take the name of his grandfather "Benjamin" and become a medicine man since the eagle represents wisdom and told him to help others as his grandfather did. Saul was deemed an adult and celebrated with a ceremony and feast.
