Storyboard Text

  • Ben was talking to Jasmine about their heights compared to the house. Ben wanted to figure it the height of the house and the height of himself compared to the house.
  • Ben laid on the ground 20 ft away from his house looking at it from a 45 degree angle. He used tangent to figure out the height of the house which was approximately 17.1 ft tall.
  • Ben then wanted to figure out his height to compare it to his house. If he stood up and look at a crack in the ground 6.5 ft from him at a 45 degree angle.
  • Ben used tangent to figure out his height. He looked at the crack from 6.5 ft away with a 45 degree angle and figure out his height was around 5.5 ft or 5 ' 6.
  • Ben walked around his town, satisfied and curious about the heights of other objects in his town. He wanted to figure out the angle of elevation from his feet to the height of the street light.
  • Ben found the distance between them 15 ft and the height of the lamppost to be 20 ft. Ben found the fraction and used tangent to figure out the the angle of elevation which was 59.3 degrees.
